"The Very Cave You Are Afraid to Enter Turns Out To Be The Source of What You Are Looking For"

Food for Thought – Blog #5 – Kelsey McGillis – Oct 20, 2020

Right now, with the temperatures getting colder, the mornings darker and 6pm feeling like 9pm it is so easy to go home, put on your pajamas and sink into Netflix covered in a warm blanket! I am a morning person but there have been so many mornings recently that I just want to keep hitting the snooze button or come home and snuggle up. With the dark cool mornings, I want to stay in bed, but I get up and get my butt moving. I want to eat comfort junk food, but I stick to my healthy nutrition plan. I want to lay on the couch, but I keep going and do not give up on my weekly work out plans. I keep showing up. Discipline is doing what you know needs to be done, even when you do not want to do it. Doing what needs to be done is what helps you achieve your dreams.

Goals + Action = Results

Practicing discipline every day is important for success and achieving your goals. During this time of year is even more critical to dig deep down and keep your discipline close. Remind yourself of your motivation, your why and choose between what you want now and what you want later. All things are difficult before they are easy. Everything in life starts with your mindset and sticking to your plans. Positive attitude gives you power over your circumstances instead of your circumstances having power over you.

Having a disciplined mindset is having self-control. Discipline builds inner strength, builds character, and builds self-stability. Discipline is being there for yourself; it is showing up for yourself and knowing you can rely and count on yourself. Practice and training are the thing you do that makes you good at something. There are no short cuts, and you need to push harder than yesterday if you want a different tomorrow. If it does not challenge you, it does not change you! Discipline will help you stay on top of your self-care, will help build self-respect, will help build self-confidence, will help you control life overreactions, will help you to focus and achieve your goals.

Discipline is willpower. Willpower is willingness. Willingness is change. Change is risk. Risk is victory!
